About Us

My name is Neil and I am still the active working manager for our horticulture contracting company Z Contracting Limited I have been involved in the horticulture industry in numerous capacities for over thirty nine years and still find it a very challenging, if occasionally frustrating area of endeavour.  I still don’t get anywhere enough fishing time, but do have firmly concreted into our work programme an annual trout fishing trip to the outlet to  at Lake Tarawera for opening day. The camping and relaxation is great—catching a few fish is always a bonus.

I also have an interest in good food & nice wines - although I am no expert, computers and reading amongst other things, but I am primarily a family man and take pleasure in being able to join my family in their activities when I am able.

Bridget and I have also managed to get a bit of travelling in over the last few years, a couple of trips to the South Island over the last three years and a couple of trips to Australia this year.

Bridget has now worked for a growing bee product based health company Comvita NZ Ltd for twelve years. A couple of years ago she accepted an internal promotion from receptionist into the accounts department, she has grown into this new challenge but still fills in as relieving receptionist.

She leads a busy work life and finds her relaxation with her horses and her involvement with the Tauranga Western Riding Club of which she is a founding member. Apart from one year off from the position recently she has done a superb job   producing the club’s monthly newsletter for years. Trekking rather than showing is her main riding interest. She gets to see a bit of the countryside around the Bay of Plenty

Alistair works full time for our company. He now does most of the mowing/mulching, sprays most of the avocados as well as kiwifruit spraying.
He is hassling me about the amount of time we spend not fishing - we will have to get to it a bit more often. Where have I heard that before?

Nichelle enjoys her horse riding on her horse Ace, some showing and some trekking with her mum. Reading and listening to CD's are her other main interests. Since she left school, she has been working in a local kiwifruit packhouse as a packer and is now a trainee grader. Ongoing career options ???

To complete the family, we have one dog, a Labrador/Dalmation cross named Zarna. She is about 4 years old (mental age about 3 months, about right for the breed), and two siamese cats, Simba and Mitsu. Mitsu has been a bit sick lately but $$$$$ later and she is getting a bit better now, oh and four horses live here too as well as two cattle at the moment.  I guess you can’t really class the resident rabbit and possum population as family.
